A great first gig for 2011 seeing Lifehouse live at the Olympia. An eventful trip on which I managed to miss my bus, and went on to hitch a lift with strangers!.. anything to get to the show!! My newfound pals dropped me off at the airport and I managed to get a free bus ride to the city centre. Dont ask me how but winging it definitely works!
After a quick visit to temple bar I got to the Olympia and saw a special lifehouse concert, its no suprise they sold out the Olympia as the band hasn’t played in Ireland for 9 years. They played several extra acoustic songs to make up for lost time including an impressive improv moment where they played songs the crowd called out for.. ‘Storm’ and ‘Take Me Away’
‘Spin’ sounded as good today as it did 8 years ago, if not better along with the newer singles an impressive setlist included deights such as.. ’whatever it takes’, ’First Time’ . Also an impressive acoustic version of ‘carousel’ and the song ‘breathing’ which somehow sounded superb even when Jason Wade lost power to his guitar. But if there was a special moment that stood out it had to be ‘Hanging by a moment’ a song any band would be more than proud of, speaking to fans outside the venue there was a lot of happy people talking about one of the best concerts they had ever been to.
